![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Imam Ahmad (رح) has recorded a narration in his Musnad that a person came up to the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and said, “I love this Surah immensely.” The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) ‘ replied: “Your love for it will cause you to enter Paradise.”. Īccording to another narration, the pagans added to their question whether Allah was made of gold, silver or some other stuff, in response to which this Surah was revealed. According to one narration of Sayyidna ` Abdullah Ibn ` Abbas (رض) ، it is Makki and, according to another, it is Madani. According to Sayyidna ` Abdullah Ibn Masud, Hasan Basri, ` Ata’, ` Ikrimah and Jabir (رض) ، the Surah is Makki and, according to Qatadah, Dahhak رحمهما الله and others, it is Madani. In view of these conflicting reports, there is a divergence of opinion as to whether this is a Makki Surah or Madani Surah. Some narratives ascribe this inquiry to the Jews of Madinah. Tirmidhi, Hakim and others have recorded that the pagans of Makkah asked the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) : “0 Muhammad! Tell us about the ancestry of your Lord.” So Allah revealed this Surah. And there hath never been co-equal with Him anyone.He neither begot anyone, nor was he begotten.Allah is Besought of all, needing none. ![]() With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful. The importance of the doctrine of Tawheed can also be gauged from the fact that all the heavenly religions are based on this doctrine of Tawheed. Tawheed is the basic duty that differentiates between a Muslim and a Kefir. Tawheed is the only thing for which Allah Almighty has exalted His Messengers. Without it, no human being can enter the realm of Islam. And in His essence and attributes there is no likeness and no partner. And the oneness of God also means that His essence is free from division. Hazrat Abu Ali Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Ruzbari was asked about Tawheed and he said: The meaning of Tawheed in one sentence is that Allah Almighty is beyond comprehension and imagery.Ību al-Qasim al-Tamimi said: Tawheed means: to make Allah (pure) from everything which can be imagined and which can be imagined. Imam Junaid al-Baghdadi says: Tawheed is that you know this and confess that Allah is One. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said: Whoever dies in this state (on the Day of Resurrection) will be counted among the righteous and the martyrs. Surah Ikhlas TransliterationĪ man came to the service of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and said: Ya Rasool Allaah! What do you say about the fact that if I testify that Allah is one and you are Rasool of Allah, I should offer five prayers, fast the month of Ramadan and stay in this month (Ramadan) Should I pay Zakat? The subject of my being one is so high that the right to pay for it can only be paid through your language.īecause, O Beloved! I want to give faith to your ummah, but their faith in me will be fulfilled only when they hear from you and believe me to be true. Whatever comes out of it, should point to my existence. Surah Ikhlas begins with the word “Qul” which means: “(O Holy Prophet!) You say.” It is Allah who is One.Īllah Almighty said: My dear! We want your language to be used to explain the subject of Tawheed. But the comprehensive concept of Tawheed given by Allah in Surah Al-Ikhlas is not found anywhere else. Although there are arguments in various verses of the Qur’an to prove this. Tawheed is one of the main themes of the Qur’an.
